MEGA Success During Statewide Mega Adoption Event
The Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) is thrilled to share the amazing success of Mega Pet Adoption Weekend, sponsored by Petco Love, Florida Leaders in Lifesaving and BOBS from Sketchers! We joined together with nearly 50 shelters across the state of Florida with the goal of finding 2,000 cats and dogs their forever homes in three days—June 28, 29 & 30.
Through a collaborative effort between HSSC staff and volunteers and our wonderful community of supporters, we were able to place 91 HSSC animals in their forever homes—69 cats & 22 dogs! We're so grateful to all of the awesome adopters who opened their hearts and homes to our cats and dogs during Mega Adoption Weekend!
Additionally—HSSC sponsored fee-waived adoptions for Highlands County Animal Services, so they could participate in the Mega Pet Adoption Event for the first time. Knowing their shelter is in a rural community, HSSC turned our Education Center into an adoption showroom and showcased 31 dogs from Highlands' facility. We also placed strategic print and digital ads in their area, encouraging adopters to discover the available animals in Sebring. The result was a record adoption weekend for Highlands County Animal Services with 28 adoptions—8 from HSSC's Education Center and 20 from their Sebring shelter.
