Animal Care Specialist
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary facility for animals and people; providing humane handling and care for all shelter animals and assuring that all animals’ nutrition, housing and basic medical needs are met on a daily basis. Assist the public with owner surrenders and adoptions. Works with potential adopters and actively promotes responsible pet ownership. Animal Clinic Receptionist
This position will perform clerical duties related to veterinary care and treatment, closely interact with clients and (small animal) patients, process invoices and payments, handle the cash drawer, and provide miscellaneous support to the veterinarians, Clinic Front Office Manager, and other staff members. Philanthropic Data Specialist
Donations are vital to the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC), the area’s premier no-kill shelter. As a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, HSSC relies solely on contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations. HSSC receives no federal funding, nor are we funded by any national humane organization. Recording gifts and acknowledging them in a timely manner is crucial to maintaining donor support so that HSSC can continue its lifesaving mission.
The Philanthropic Data Specialist will join the Development Department and will report directly to the Senior Director of Philanthropy. The Development Department manages an extensive constituent database in Raiser’s Edge and takes a holistic approach to organizational data, incorporating data from various organizational sources (e.g., adopters, volunteers, clients, attendees, and donors). The Philanthropic Data Specialist will process all fundraising gifts, maintain constituent data, serve as data quality manager, safeguard donor data, assist with bookkeeping functions, and provide necessary analytical support so the Executive Director, Senior Director of Philanthropy, and the Board of Directors can make informed decisions regarding current and prospective donors. The ideal candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, trustworthy, dedicated, and reliable, with a clear understanding of the connection between skilled data management and nonprofit success. Veterinary Technicians are under the direct guidance and supervision of the Veterinary Technician Manager and doctors. Incumbents of this position are required to assist the practitioners to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients of the Animal Clinic of the Humane Society of Sarasota County, and to aid the practitioners in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work and administrative detail.
