    Impact Report

    HSSC is committed to transparency in all aspects of our organization. We track shelter statistics and report data to Shelter Animals Count and Best Friends Animal Society's Pet Lifesaving Dashboard. Data are made publically available so that all who support HSSC can see the extent of our lifesaving impact.

    HSSC had a save rate of 96.8% in 2023. HSSC is a no-kill shelter, which means that no animal is ever euthanized to make space for another. Infrequently, HSSC must make the difficult decision to euthanize animals that have become too sick to be treated or too aggressive or behaviorally challenged to be suitable for adoption. While we are proud to be a no-kill shelter, that is not the case for our state. HSSC is deeply committed to making Florida a no-kill state. We work with several shelters throughout the region to transfer at-risk animals to our facility. Learn more about lifesaving across Florida and the United States.
