PAWSITIVE PRESS | Happenings & Happy Tails | JULY 2021

WILL YOU OPEN YOUR HEART AND YOUR HOME?
We celebrated another record-breaking month in June with 214 adoptions. HSSC is now on track to exceed our lifesaving goal for the year - saving more animals than ever before in our 69-year history. Our back-to-back adoption records in May and June were possible because of our growing foster program. Collectively, since May, our foster families have provided care to 254 dogs and cats. Combined, their investment of time and space equated to 5348 days of care.

Foster families are essential to our ability to care for vulnerable animals, like puppies, kittens, nursing moms, seniors, and animals with special medical needs. These are the animals that are most at risk in a shelter, even a great one like HSSC. Shelters expose underage animals to diseases that they don't have immunity for yet and the stress of a shelter is no place for a senior pet or one with a major medical problem.

We are so very grateful to our foster families for answering our call in May when we were inundated with desperate calls from animal services shelters across the state drowning in kittens. Kitten season is not over yet, however, and we still need our foster families' help.

If you have never fostered before, now is the time to do it. We make it easy for you. We provide everything you need – food, care supplies, medical care, and training. All we ask of you is space in your home and heart for an animal in need. Help us save as many kittens, as we can this season! (or cats or puppies or dogs!) If you have already fostered for HSSC this kitten season, thank you, from the bottom of our kitten-loving hearts.
