About the Animal Clinic of HSSC

The Animal Clinic of the Humane Society of Sarasota County is committed to providing affordable, quality medical care to keep pets safe and in their homes. As a non-profit provider, we believe all pets deserve access to medical services to prevent future health problems. The Animal Clinic’s mission is to provide the preventative care your pet needs at an affordable rate.

Since opening in 2016, the Animal Clinic has treated more than 17,000 patients. The Animal Clinic is a program of the Humane Society of Sarasota County, meaning all Animal Clinic proceeds support the care of the cats and dogs in the shelter

** Please Note: The Animal Clinic does not operate as a full-service veterinary practice, nor are we able to offer emergency medical care.**

The Animal Clinic is located in the Grand Slam Plaza on the southeast corner of 12th Street and Tuttle Avenue, behind 7/11. Please note: The Animal Clinic is not located at the same facility as the main shelter for the Humane Society of Sarasota County.

Vaccination appointments can only be made for up to 2 animals at a time. For 3 or more pets, please make separate appointments.  

Prices are subject to change without notice. These prices are in effect as of September 2022.

Preventative Care Programs

Available to everyone, regardless of income

The Animal Clinic offers core preventative programs to ensure pets remain free from harmful parasites like fleas, ticks, and heartworms. We also offer annual core vaccinations to prevent pets from getting sick from exposure to harmful viruses and diseases. We stress the importance of microchipping pets in case they ever get lost. We offer affordable spay and neuter services to prevent unplanned litters of cats and dogs (and keep them from ending up at animal shelters). We also perform routine dentistry.

Puppy Care Package – 30 minutes  $65

Canine Core Package – 20 minutes  $90
For dogs six month or older, or who have completed their initial vaccinations.

  • Heartworm test

Canine Core Plus Package – 20 minutes  $130
For dogs six month or older, or who have completed their initial vaccinations.

  • Fecal test
  • Heartworm test
  • 1-year supply of heartworm prevention for dogs up to 50lbs. Dogs 50-100lbs, add $10 to package cost.

Add microchip and registration to any package for $10
3-year rabies vaccine can be added to any eligible patient's package for $10
Intact (not spayed or neutered) adult dogs are subject to a $10 fee per visit. 

Feline Preventative Care Packages

Kitten Care Package – 30 minutes  $60 

  • Vaccine health screen

  • 1st month of heartworm and flea prevention
  • Wellness education and socialization tips

Feline Core Package – 20 minutes  $75
For cats six month or older, or who have completed their initial vaccinations.

Add microchip and registration to any package for $10. Rabies 3 year can be added to any patient that qualifies for an additional $10.
Intact (not spayed or neutered) adult cats are subject to a $10 fee per visit. 

Spay & Neuter Packages

Routine Spay/Neuter
For healthy cats and dogs less than 6 years old with no known medical concerns. All animals will receive pain medication following the procedure.

Dogs under 50lbs:

  • Spay – $155
  • Neuter – $115

Dogs over 50lbs:

  • Spay – $195
  • Neuter – $155

Cats:

  • Spay – $75
  • Neuter – $55

Comprehensive Spay/Neuter
For cats and dogs more than 6 years old or those with known medical concerns. Includes IV catheter and pre-anethestic bloodwork (completed day of surgery). All animals will receive pain medication following the procedure.

Dogs under 50lbs:

  • Spay – $275
  • Neuter – $235

Dogs over 50lbs:

  • Spay – $295
  • Neuter – $255

Cats:

  • Spay – $195
  • Neuter – $150

Umbilical hernias and retained testicles incur an additional charge of $65

Dentistry

Routine Spay/Neuter

All dental procedures will require that a recent veterinarian exam has been completed at our facility as part of a regular vaccination exam, or as a separate dental consult exam for a fee of $20.00.

Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is additional based on age and any known medical conditions.

All Dental Cleanings include:

  • Full Mouth Digital Radiographs
  • Intravenous Catheter and Fluids
  • Ultrasonic Scaling
  • Teeth Polishing

Dental Grades:

  • Dental Cleaning --Grade 1: Simple $ 315.00
  • Dental Cleaning – Grade 2: Simple plus extraction(s) $480
  • Dental Cleaning – Grade 3: Complex plus extraction(s) $750
  • Dental Cleaning -- Grade 4: Complex with Oral Surgery starting at $900

K-Laser Plans Technician Based Program following Veterinarian initial consultation

All packages require an initial $45 veterinary exam to determine an appropriate treatment plan.

Packages: Standard includes up to three areas of the body:

  • Five sessions $125 includes the 6th session free

Extensive treatments cover up to 6 areas of the body:

Bloodwork Packages

The Humane Society of Sarasota County Animal Clinic follows the recommended care guidelines set by the American Veterinary Medical Association. At minimum, we recommend an annual examination, broad-spectrum parasite control, immunizations, and bloodwork. Comprehensive bloodwork is strongly recommended for senior pets (6 years and older). Because every animal is unique, the Animal Clinic staff will tailor your pet’s care to its specific lifestyle, life stage, and medical history.

  • Annual blood panels for dogs less than 6 yrs. $ 85.00
  • Annual greater than 6yrs $ 125.00

Our highly trained technician staff can perform many services for your pet while reducing your visit costs. These services emphasize routine preventative care, responsible pet ownership, and education.

End of Life Services

Saying goodbye to your beloved pet can be one of the most difficult times in your life. Our compassionate staff are here to support you when euthanasia is the most humane choice for a pet’s quality of life. We offer private and communal cremation services for your pet, providing you and your pet with the utmost respect, professionalism, care, and compassion.

At this time, the Animal Clinic is only able to offer end of life services for established patients. Appointments are required.
