We know that you have many choices of nonprofits to support. You have high standards and expect nonprofits to meet them.
As a private nonprofit that does not receive any government funding and is not affiliated with any other humane organization—national or local—the Humane Society of Sarasota County depends on the support of individuals, businesses, and foundations. It is extremely important to us that our supporters know how much we value their investment in our mission and that we demonstrate that we are using their donations wisely. We are committed to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and strong governance. As a result, we have received the coveted 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator for several consecutive years, as well as the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid.
HSSC has a knowledgeable board of directors and a solid investment portfolio. We use generally accepted accounting principles, and we are independently audited. The numbers included in this annual report are from our Audited Financial Statements for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2022.
