2020 Summer Appeal

Lucie had not had an easy life.

The petite miniature pinscher mix was rescued from horrible conditions. Pregnant, heartworm positive, and terrified—Lucie desperately needed a helping hand.

Fortunately, Lucie arrived at the Humane Society of Sarasota County, where we could provide everything she (and her newborn puppy, Petunia) needed. Unfortunately, Lucie and Petunia arrived just as the pandemic was escalating. Since March, we have done everything “Humanely Possible” to keep operating and helping animals, despite drastic reductions in revenue. After all, animal homelessness does not stop for a pandemic. Will you give them a hand?

Your support is urgently needed to provide lifesaving care to every animal in this difficult time. With your gift to the Humane Society of Sarasota County, you can save animals like Lucie and Petunia.

Lucie and Petunia were placed in a loving foster home where they could recover and grow. After weeks of treatment and care, they were both adopted. Now, they will have a life never thought possible.

Lucie was rescued from a hoarding case in Louisiana. She and Petunia, her newborn puppy, arrived at HSSC just as the COVID-19 pandemic was escalating.

Lucie got lots of special attention from our staff, who helped her learn to trust people. Eventually she was adopted by the perfect family.

Petunia was just four days old when she arrived at HSSC. She will never have to suffer a life of neglect and overbreeding like her mom, Lucie, did.

So many animals will need rescuing this summer. Whether it’s a mother cat and her litter struggling to survive on their own … or an older animal desperate for a second chance … they all deserve care and love. At HSSC, animals receive unparalleled medical, behavioral, and emotional care. That’s our promise to every animal that enters our shelter.

Demand is higher than ever, but resources are low. That’s why your gift is urgently needed to make sure homeless, neglected, and abandoned animals get the care they need.

Your generosity will save animals’ lives this summer—the time of year when the need is greatest. Innocent animals are counting on your compassionate support now more than ever. Please give them a lifesaving hand with your gift today.
