At the Humane Society of Sarasota County, we deal in extremes. From the heartbreaking to the awe-inspiring and every emotion in between, we felt it all in 2021. One thing was constant, though: our supporters (you!) were right there with us. Thank you!
How do you sum up a year filled with incredible achievements (like completing 2,100 adoptions in our fantastic new facility) and tremendous challenges (like surviving year two of the pandemic while finishing construction)? We decided to take the Jimmy Buffett approach: "If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane."
Please enjoy this compilation of bloopers featuring shelter alumni, current residents, staff pets, and even a few humans. We hope these silly outtakes remind you of the joy animals bring to our lives and how wonderful it is to know that, together, we are making their lives better too. Happy New Year!
If you have already made a year-end gift, thank you so much!
If you have not, today is your last chance to donate in 2021.
Your gift will go directly to the animals in our care and the ones still to arrive. To have your gift matched 1:1 up to $500, please donate today via the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust and designate HSSC as the recipient.
You can also donate securely at www.hssc.org or by mail.
UPDATES: Star and Angel, the seven-week-old kittens who were brought to HSSC separately on Tuesday and Wednesday, are improving. Both are in foster homes now and receiving lots of TLC. Angel, who we initially thought had a broken leg, still has lots of healing to do, but she is getting stronger. Her foster mom says that she's eating well, taking her medication, and even putting weight on her sore leg. She shows her appreciation with mighty purrs and biscuit making. Thank you to everyone for making it possible for HSSC to care for these babies.
